Who knows what gifts or leanings each of us is given and why, but for me the expression of beauty and passion through fine art came slowly and steadily. On this website you will find a cross-section of images that will give you an idea of my continual search and love for visual excitement and meaning.

Watercolor, mixed media, acrylic, pastel, charcoal, graphite, and ink have long been my primary tools for expression and representation. My passion for painting and drawing lies in many areas: visual or felt drama, unusual compositions, contrast, positive and negative shapes, tool marks and applications, pure and simple beauty, and sensual content whether in the human form or color passages. WHEW – wears me out, too! Consequently, it is more often than not that I begin a piece with one inspiration and conclusion in mind and end up exploring my way into a very different result.

Why primarily watercolor as seen here? Because it has a mind of its own and therefore expresses itself and my untold thoughts even before I know what they are! Watercolor has a way of starting a “conversation” with me (when I'm willing to listen!) that opens up directions and possibilities I might not find using any other media. Am I committed solely to it? Not at all. There are times it only starts the “conversation” and something else is needed to complete it. I look forward to using whatever it takes to make my search complete.

"The artist needs but a roof, a crust of bread, and his easel, and all the rest God gives him in abundance. He must live to paint and not paint to live." - Albert Pinkham Ryder (1847-1917)
